Therefore, its teachings are important for a person having diabetes.

A Shlok or a Sloka is a poetic form of verse that is written in the Sanskrit language. Here are some shlokas that hold relevance for diabetics-

Translation – Health is the biggest wealth in one’s life. It is the only thing with which all the other things can be achieved in life. With exercise, one can achieve perfect health, happiness, longevity and strength.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that requires continuous and careful management. You should follow all the recommendations given by your doctor or health coach and make the required changes to your diet and lifestyle. If diabetes is left unchecked, it can lead to long-term complications.

Translation – Everything in life can be regained- wife, kingdom, friend and wealth. The only thing that you can’t ever regain is your body. Once your body/health is lost, it can never reach its fullness again. Therefore, it is important to take care of your body on a daily basis.

The long term complications of diabetes include heart stroke, nerve damage, brain damage, blindness and even death. Therefore, you should keep a regular tab on your sugar levels and immediately contact your doctor or health coach in case of emergencies.

Translation – You should eat fresh ginger with rock salt powder before starting any meal. It will help you boost your digestion, clean your throat and tongue, and also activate your tastebuds.

An essential part of diabetes management is monitoring what you eat. You should consume a diet which is high in fibre and low in carbohydrates. You should avoid sugary and fried foods and also avoid beverages containing soda and high-sugar content. You can opt for infused water, herbal teas, etc.

। Gita-2.48

Translation- You should be sincere in performing your everyday duties. You should abandon your attachment to success and failure. Such balance can be achieved through Yoga.

Yoga and diabetes are intricately related. It has been proven that Yoga can help improve a person’s diabetic condition. Certain meditative exercises can help bring down a person’s stress levels, which can, in turn, have a positive impact on their sugar levels.
